Esthiology Program
In the world of Aveda, this study and practice of skin care is called Esthiology, which is esthetics that also includes an emphasis on using Aveda products with natural ingredients. Our students learn the theoretical and practical skills along with the business building techniques necessary to promote their success in the spa industry. A student can learn specialized techniques to purify, balance, and renew the skin as well as study techniques for trends in makeup application and any new developments in skin care.
Our Esthiology program is based on the curriculum set by Aveda Institute and in accordance with the regulations set by the state of Nevada. The Esthiology curriculum is designed to prepare students to sit for the state licensing examination for estheticians and for gainful employment.
What Does the Program Cover?
Esthiology students are given lessons on a variety of skills such as:
- Skin care basics
- Skin analysis
- Anatomy
- Facial techniques
- Body treatments
- Hair removal, including waxing
- Makeup application
- Business development
- Wellness and nutrition
- Plant Aromaology
- Hygiene and safety requirements
- Retail knowledge of Aveda products
Each phase of your education will emphasize a different combination of learning approaches including, but not limited to, lectures, demonstrations, and practical applications. Your training was designed to encompass three types of learning:
- Theoretical knowledge, the foundation of your education.
- Practical experience, the application of your knowledge
