Aveda Institute Las Vegas is always so proud of our amazing students and the individual journeys they are on. This month we interviewed Gabriella Gerber, one of our cosmetology students. She is a creative and driven individual with a passion for lashes!

What were some of the reasons you chose Aveda for your education?
I chose Aveda because it’s recognized globally and I like what the products stand for.
You are graduating soon, congrats! Do you have a job lined up after gradation?
Yes I am going to be working at Sassy Lash Lounge and Look Style Society.
Wow, those are amazing companies to work for! What made you choose those companies?
During my time at Aveda Institute Las Vegas I grew an interest in lashes so I completed a certification training with Sassy Lashes and later secured a position there. I was offered an assistant position with my hair stylist who has been doing my hair for years at Look Style Society, so it just worked out!
What life skills has Aveda Institute Las Vegas taught you to succeed in the beauty industry?
It helped me feel more confident as a stylist and taught me how to communicate effectively.
You are doing lashes and hair after graduation, what helped you in your decision between our Cosmetology and Esthiology program?
I chose cosmetology because I did not want to be limited to only one aspect of the industry.
You are 19 years old, what helped you in making the decision to go to beauty school right out of high school?
I just always knew it was something I wanted to pursue as a career.
With homecoming and Halloween coming up this month, what are some styles you recommend to anyone who would want help with hair and makeup?
Beauty should be fun so just be bold in your decisions and own it.
What inspires you?
My parents because they have always supported me and encouraged me to pursue my dreams. They have also told my brothers and me to never give up on our passions and dreams.
What are three characteristics about yourself that you would tell a potential employer to hire you?
Keeps a positive attitude when put in stressful environments, works well with others, passionate about the industry.
What Aveda products do you use and why?
Damage Control because it’s a heat protectant and it is a great detangler.
What do you like the most about the beauty industry?
I like making a difference in people’s lives no matter what they are going through.
What are your one year, five year, and ten year goals?
In one year I want to feel more confident and be able to work on my own. In five years I see myself being a color specialist and having my own clientele, and in ten years I want to have my own business.
